POSITION DESCRIPTION


POSITION: BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER
BUSINESS UNIT: Sheridan PubFactory
DEPARTMENT: Technology
REPORTS TO: Vice-President, Sales

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE:

The Business Development Manager will develop relationships and secure multi-year agreements with journal and book publishers, associations and societies for PubFactory content hosting services.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Identify and close new business at a pace that satisfies annual sales goals
  2. Identify viable PF opportunities among our current journal and book customer base and coordinate a sales approach with the appropriate sales rep
  3. Work collaboratively with Sheridan PubFactory management and team members to thoroughly understand the platform features and benefits
  4. Create effective responses to prospect RFP’s
  5. Gather market intelligence that will help shape our services and understand how our services compete with our primary competitors
  6. Review sales activity highlights in the monthly sales meeting
  7. Represent PubFactory at annual publishing conferences
  8. Travel as required to prospect and customer meetings
  9. Assist in the planning and execution of the annual PubFactory User Group meeting
  10. Capture sales activities with regular updates in Salesforce


QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience:

  1. An industry insider with an established network within the scholarly and scientific publishing communities
  2. Minimum 5 years of experience selling SaaS and professional services
  3. Bachelor’s degree
  4. Salesforce or other CRM experience a plus

Qualifications and Skills:

  1. Results oriented, high energy self-starter with a track record for consistently achieving sales goals
  2. Ability to work collaboratively in a team selling environment
  3. Excellent verbal and written communication skills including an ability to present to large and small groups
  4. Flexible and willing to travel as required
  5. Experience with working remotely with nominal in-person support

LOCATION:

  1. Northeast US preferred but flexible with the right candidate
