PubFactory hosts Sciendo, De Gruyter’s new publishing services business
A Sheridan PubFactory partner for nearly a decade, De Gruyter leverages the hosting platform as a core part of its new subsidiary business.
Hanover, PA - De Gruyter’s new Sciendo platform showcases the breadth of its services and solutions offering along with presenting 600 Open Access journals and 100+ Open Access books.
Host to 1400+ journals and 400,000+ books, the PubFactory platform is the perfect home for Sciendo, which provides publishing services to organizations and individual authors, including online hosting. Today, Sciendo publishes journals, books, conference proceedings, and a variety of other academic publications. All Sciendo customers can opt to publish using an Open Access business model or using the Paid access model - the choice is theirs.
Jacek Ciesielski, Vice President Publishing Services at De Gruyter says, “The flexibility of the PubFactory platform has allowed us to bring Sciendo to market in a way that distinguishes it from the main De Gruyter business while still honoring the design simplicity that is a hallmark of the De Gruyter brand. This was key. And equally as important, Sciendo’s content site is tightly integrated with the main De Gruyter content site allowing users to search across both Sciendo and degruyter.com. This level of integration allows us to protect the ever important User Experience (UX) by ensuring readers can quickly get to the most useful content without encountering frustrating barriers.”
Sheridan’s José Fossi, VP of Client Services for PubFactory: “De Gruyter has long been our trusted partner and we are excited to extend the PubFactory platform to host their Sciendo content. Although hosting is just one of the many publishing services that Sciendo offers, it is an enabling component in that it frees the Sciendo team to focus on growing their customer base and increasing their support for authors, editors, and publishers alike.”
The PubFactory team has been developing and delivering scholarly publishing technologies since 1999. The PubFactory platform has been adopted by a diverse and prestigious group of publishers including Oxford University Press, Harvard University Press, Journal of Neurosurgery Publishing Group, Brill, Bioscientifica, and the International Monetary Fund. The PubFactory platform is host to hundreds of thousands of books, journals, reference works, databases, and other content types, making it the only truly mixed content scholarly platform.
