New platform part of one-stop production and hosting solution
Boston, MA—February 24, 2021—The American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene (ASTMH), the largest international organization of scientists dedicated to fighting tropical infectious diseases, has launched its flagship journal on KnowledgeWorks Global Ltd. (KGL)’s PubFactory platform.
Publishing over 500 articles and 1,000 pages per year, the top-ranked American Journal of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene (AJTMH) delivers 12 monthly issues plus 4-5 annual supplements at the new ajtmh.org. Originally launched in 1921, AJTMH features novel research with an emphasis on population, clinical and laboratory science, and the application of technology in the field of tropical medicine. The new site supports published articles along with informational pages, news and blog content.
In addition to the online hosting platform, ASTMH continues to partner with KGL to streamline its journal production and fulfillment workflow, including copyediting, composition, author billing, printing, subscriber services, reprints, and content sales. By consolidating services and relationships, the publisher benefits from simplified vendor management, diminished supply chain delays, and cost containment with a single supplier.
Cathi Siegel, Managing Editor at AJTMH, commented: “At a time when efficiency and speed to publication have never proved more important for medical research, this combined relationship with KGL takes the uncertainty, potential gaps, and pricing differentials out of the process—which is critical for independent society publishers like ASTMH. We have worked with Sheridan for decades and are eager to optimize our workflow with KGL while providing the enhanced service to our authors and subscribers that the PubFactory platform makes possible.”
José Fossi, VP of Client Services for KGL PubFactory, reiterated: “AJTMH is a high-impact journal that deserves the latest in delivery platform standards, including advanced discoverability features, robust business analytics, and flexible content management. We have a long track record of integrating hosting with production and ecommerce processes for all types of society and association publishers, for a true one-stop content solution that will help ASTMH better fulfill its mission to its community and society at large.”
KGL’s holistic proposition for scholarly publishers includes project management, AI-powered language analysis and copyediting, XML composition and proofing, digital and print production, and online hosting. The PubFactory platform hosts over 2,300 journals and 400,000 books, numerous databases, and reference works.
